Till now, I have seen Leopards only inside the Indian national parks sitting inside the safari vehicle. But this time the experience was little different.

A remote place in Rajasthan called Bera located at 110 km from Udaipur is not only holding a good number of wild leopards but also yields to the success story of human-animal relationship over the years. Situated on the lap of famous Aravalli hills, this is definitely a must-see place for wildlife lovers.

Bera is having a rocky landscape and it does not provide natural prey base for the leopards which in turn made them to hunt the goat and sheep of the villagers. Due to the conservation efforts of various organizations, local Maharajas ( earlier days), Government has started giving the compensation to the villagers for any loss of the livestock. This has created a lot of awareness to the local communities and tribes for the Leopard conservation and both the man and leopards are living side by side without any clash.
